Tizi Talks with Cula Budi

· Interviews

I had a hereditary back condition which disappeared once I started doing dead lifts.

Dear Reader,

Have you ever wondered what could happen if you achieve your ideal fitness goals? I will give you a hint...sometimes it unlocks your potential, other times it makes you as productive as a machine, and other times, you are head hunted to be a fitness model. Welcome back to episode thirteen of Tizi Talks with Cula Budi!

He is a professional fitness model and men's physique athlete. Once he discovered the power in looking after his health, he fell in love with fitness and was approached to be a model due to the impressive results he achieved. After meeting him and hearing his story, I had to feature him and hopefully inspire you to push your limits. This is what he had to say:-

TIZI: How old are you?

CB: I am 30 years old.

TIZI: How long have you been working out?

CB: I have been working out for 5 straight years professionally and about 2 years of playing around.

TIZI: What made you start?

CB: I was introduced to working out by a friend and it later became a lifestyle.

TIZI: Do you feel like it has made a difference in your life? If yes, how so?

CB: Working out has made a great difference in my life; I am in the best shape of my life..I also had a hereditary back condition which disappeared once I started doing dead lifts. I also find a great deal of solace in the gym when I am stressed.

TIZI: Can you please take me through your daily fitness routine on a weekday? And the weekend?

CB: For me, there is no weekend or weekday when it comes to the gym..Monday is leg-day where I hit 2 good hours on various leg workouts; Tuesday is chest-day and triceps; Wednesday I work on my back and biceps; Thursday is shoulders; Friday I am back to legs and I rest over the weekend. My abs are primarily made in the kitchen; I work on them for more definition if I have a job coming up.

TIZI: Do you find it difficult to include your workout in your daily routine?

CB: Part of my job as a fitness model is staying in good shape; so its like going to the office. It doesn't interfere with my routine.

TIZI: What keeps you motivated?

CB: Everyday when I wake up in the morning and look at what I have built, I get motivated. I am also working out to stay healthy in the future.

TIZI: What can you advise people who want to start their fitness journey?

CB: Starting is the hardest part but once you take that step and make it through the first week, you will do just fine. Start with buying those gym shoes because its motivation enough. Remember that gym plays 30% of everything.. You are what you eat so fix your kitchen first before running 2 hours on the treadmill.

Sometimes we struggle to start because we see videos of people working out and become intimidated to start the fitness journey. As Gloria Ndanu said in a previous Tizi Talks, don't be intimidated to try and when you start, don't give up. You are always stronger than you think. Budi is accurate when he says that buying a pair of gym shoes will get you motivated enough to start. Have a look at our article called the "9 Gym Must Haves" to see what you need. Gift yourself with those items and start the new year strong and dedicated!
