Strawberry Oat Smoothie

Dear Reader,

If there is one thing I am completely obsessed with, is oatmeal. Other than the fact that its delicious, its one of the most convenient healthy options for breakfast. Most importantly, they are an excellent source of complex carbohydrates and dietary fiber. According to a study conducted by University of Maryland, it was noted that oatmeal significantly lowers cholesterol levels. Another huge benefit is that its rich in anti-oxidant properties and helps undo any damage done to your skin by pollution, UV rays or chemicals. That being said, there are many ways to incorporate oatmeal into your diet and one of my favorites is to have it in a smoothie. If you're looking to try a new smoothie recipe,keep reading!

What You'll Need

  • 1/4 cup rolled oats, soaked overnight
  • 1/4 natural plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 large frozen banana, sliced into chunks
  • 5 pitted dates
  • 2 cubes of dark chocolate
  • 1 cup of strawberries
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract


Simply place the all of the ingredients into the blender and blend until creamy and thick.

Smoothies are a great way of taking in your vitamins and this specific one makes for the perfect afternoon snack. However, please note that smoothies should not replace your main meals because they are only filled with micro-nutrients as opposed to macro-nutrients. - Major Key Alert. They should be taken either for breakfast or a day time snack.
