How To Detox After The Holidays

Hello lovely readers and a very Happy New Year to you all! I hope you all had a great holiday and are ready for 2021? With the festive season comes a time for us all to wind down and relax. With Christmas parties and New Years parties happening, we all tend to relax a bit and indulge in amazing food, alcohol and also generally tend to get lax in staying consistent with our fitness routine. After a year like 2020, who wouldn't want to kick back and enjoy?
Getting back on track can be a bit challenging. But you don't have to go on extreme diets, or spend hours and hours working out. Starting off with small steps and setting realistic goals is the best way forward. Below are some of my tips on how to get back on track with your health and wellness goals:
1. Get Drinking!
No, I definitely do not mean alcohol! Start off each morning with a large glass of water. This helps cleanse your system and gives you a boost of energy. Staying hydrated helps keep cravings away, but it also doesn't give you that false sense of hunger and hence can help with maintaining a healthy weight along with glowing skin, and great hair!
2. Move, Move, Move!
Set aside time for your favourite kind of workout. When it's scheduled in, you are more likely to see it through. You can do anything from walking, running, yoga, weight training, spin classes and so on. The options are endless. Do something you enjoy because if you have fun doing it, you will stick to it. Start off with working out twice or thrice a week, and as the weeks go on, add more workouts in until you are consistent and doing them four to five times a week. Another great way to make sure that you stick to working out is getting an accountability partner who you will motivate you on the days you don't feel like it.
3. Eat Whole Foods
Eating a diet full of whole, nourishing and nutritious foods will help with the cleansing process. A diet full of fiber and antioxidants will help reduce inflammation and will improve gut health. Once you start eating healthier and cleaner, you'll start noticing that your body has more energy, your skin starts looking better, weight starts to drop off and overall you'll just feel great inside and out! Don't forget to treat yourself now and then because after all, we need to feed our soul as well!
4. Set Goals
Take time out to sit down and really reflect on your past year. Set out realistic goals that you want to achieve in 2021 and find a plan that will help you achieve these goals. Don't make goals whereby you want to lose 10 kilograms in a month because that is simply not healthy. Instead, make small goals which are achievable and easier to stick to. Instead of wanting to lose a certain amount of weight in a certain amount of time, set a goal whereby you will start eating healthier and incorporating more workouts. Through this, the weight will start to drop off.
